Living Room Redo - Eight Hours, Bachelor Pad Furniture and Spray Paint

Jason and I moved into our house three years ago. We moved in, we put everything in its place and with the exception of some painting, we haven't changed things around much.

This wild "everything needs to be new" hair that I recently got meant that I needed to change that and as soon a possible. So I took the day off work, picked up a couple cans of spray paint, dug out his old bachelor pad furniture and went to work.

Eight hours and a shower later, I fell exhausted into my big ol' chair.

Some before shots:

Notice how I show the room at its worst for the "before"? Like the before beauty shots where she never has any make-up on, bed head and the worst break out ever. I should probably be ashamed of this picture, but you see, this is truly what the room looked like moments before I started the project. And besides, it just means that I have this cuteness running around my house:

It was that very mess maker and that very mess that prompted me to make this painting that would set the color palette for the room:

So I cleaned up the mess and did a little rearranging (the worst part of the whole day):

The good news is that the entire project cost me less than thirty bucks because I had these bachelor pad beauties hidden away:

There is nothing like Target's Mission Style cheapness to bring out my creativity. And my Krylon.

So much Krylon, in fact, that every time I blew my nose it was a rainbow of awesome for days following. But totally worth it.

Note my little love birds left in wood grain. I love wood grain:

And the whole deal:

This is where my knitting magic happens:

You might also notice the new TV. Jason was so wowed he thought the room needed a new TV. Or he needed a new TV, I'm unsure.

Stay tuned for a few more additions including a great birdcage that is in the process of the Krylon makeover as we speak. Or maybe the saga of the $4 thrift store dresser turned media cabinet.

Very cute...love the colors! Your daughter appears to be completely overwhelmed by the awesomeness that is your living room. So overwhelmed that she had to sit right down and ignore you and play a video game.

P.S. That's your daughter in the pic, right? If not, then nevermind.

WG: Would gladly do your home.

Annablle: Aww shucks, thanks!

BTS: Thanks!

Slouchy: I love the room now.

Miss Yvonne: I'm fairly sure that's my kid. She may be have been switched out by aliens after birth but I gave birth to something that looks like her. Wait until you see her Napoleon Dynamite esque glamour shots I made her do last night.

There you are!

And also, damn! You do good work. Love the furniture facelifts. You could sell that kind of thing, you know. I apparently think you need something more to do.

Can I just say how awesome it is that you've gone all crafty in your internet break! Your room looks amazing. Inspiring, in fact. I myself have been having a break from all things glow-y (i.e. computer screens). I got myself a new sewing machine and have been making little girl dresses. Little girls! Dresses! Nothing cuter! See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/essellgee/sets/72157622277564081/ Anyway, it feels so freaking good to actually make something for a change. It's so.... productive. Anyway, glad to hear your voice again sweetie.

Thanks for all the encouragement to keep up the crafty.

I do these things and then wonder if I'm the only one who things it's mega.

Everything looks great!!! I have stepped away from things I was consumed with as well snd I slowed down in other areas. My computer crashing for the past 2 months helped with that.

Here's to new beginnings!

The new room looks great! God, I wish I were half as creative AND motivated. I'm too lazy to paint tables. We've been living in our condo for 6 years and the only room we've ever painted was the nursery!
